1. Blog
2. Volunteer
3. Creative writing contests

5. Poetry
6. Seek out a mentor
Personally, I doubt those 6 would suit every freelancing writer out there in the wild. Poetry? Really? Do poetry-readers still exist? If so, can you make some money out of poetry writing? Doubt that.
